Sohoton Cove

As you observed, the posts that I published so far are rewritten posts from my old site. Some of my friends ask about my recent trips and I hear you, so from now on, I’ll be mixing in new content for you!

I’ll start this off with a team-building trip for Labor Day Weekend 2017 to Sohoton Cove!

Sohoton Cove can be accessed from different ports, including Hayanggabon Port in Surigao del Norte, which is around 9 hours from Davao City. We decided to rent vans and leave Saturday night, after office hours, so we could sleep through the 9-hour drive. We left Davao City around 9:00pm and arrived at the port at around 6:00am.

There, we met with our guide and we took the boat to our resort to leave our things, change to swimwear, and prepare for the day ahead. We visited attractions including Hagukan Cave, Diving Cave, Jellyfish Lagoon, and Bolitas Cave. At the end of the day, we went back to the resort to rest for the night.

Hidden Island Resort is a good place to stay because it’s peaceful. We went there on a long weekend but there were only a few guests. Their resto-bar is on the farther side of the property, where they feature a live band at night. Their villas are on stilts surrounded by lots of fishes. We woke up early the next day to feed the fishes with bread and they are big! It’s amazing and scary at the same time.

On our second day, we requested to skip some of the attractions because we’re going to have the team building proper – a meeting to introduce office personnel and project personnel, because some of these guys have constant communication but have never seen each other, ever. We played games after, had lunch, then went back to Hayanggabon Port to start the long drive home.

We had so much fun that weekend, thanks to our tour operator Oliver Grande Tours. I’m so happy with their assistance. It felt like traveling with your mom because they really care and they took care of everything including the island hopping, full board meals, and the accommodation. All we needed to do was show up!

Sohoton is an underrated paradise, and I really recommend visiting it. Just look at these photos and watch the video below and judge it yourself. 😉
