Color Manila Run

Summer’s over, meaning swimwear season is over. We slowly start to indulge ourselves with our favorite food and skip gym sessions. Without a beach bod to prepare for, what else can we look forward to? Good thing Color Manila gives us a reason to keep working on our cardio because they prepared a series of running events that surely puts the ‘fun’ in fun run.

Several events are prepared for the whole year, starting with their January run at SM MOA Open Grounds. It’s a good challenge for those who threw in fitness on their new year’s resolutions. To those who are still on track with their fitness goals, even after the summer months, Color Manila has your back. There are five more upcoming themed runs all over the country.

A friend and I always wanted to participate in their runs but never had, because of our schedules. But last June, we were finally free to join the Color Manila Challenge in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Hooray!

We stayed at Paseo Premiere Hotel, which is just within the vicinity of the event grounds, and actually just along the run route. The gathering time was at 4:30 and the first gun shot was around 5:30. I’m pretty sure there was a program because even from our hotel room, I can hear music and screams from the starting line, but I cannot say for sure because we were not there. We woke up late and missed the starting gun shot. We just geared up, walked out the hotel lobby, and started running. hahaha.

Since the theme is Color Manila Challenge, there were obstacles along the route, which were both fun and well, challenging. I won’t tell you much because I don’t want to spoil you in case you plan to join the next events, but I can tell you one thing – there was no shortage of color powder!

The fun continues even after the finish line because freebies are waiting for the finishers, including their Color Manila medals and fooood! Yum! There was good music while everyone was resting, until everyone gathered for my favorite part – the countdown to the ‘color cloud’. I’m not really sure if that’s what it’s really called, but it was so fun! Great music by a live DJ, and it was a party vibe at 10 in the morning.

So either you want to stay on track with your fitness goal, or just want to have fun with some friends, check their website and register for their upcoming events. You’ll never regret it!

They organize events nationwide, so to my Davao friends, save August 12 on your calendars, and let’s run and glow under the blacklight! See you there!
